What is Primus WebFilter?
Primus WebFilter is an Internet content filtering system. WebFilter blocks out unsuitable or offensive Web content, such as pornography and graphic violence.
What kinds of sites does WebFilter block?
WebFilter blocks offensive and inappropriate Web sites. For details about the kinds of sites we block, read our filtering policy.
How does WebFilter work?
WebFilter is powered by N2H2 iFilter. iFilter uses a categorised list of Web site addresses to block inappropriate content. A team of over 150 people at N2H2 continuously update the blocking list as new Web sites appear on the Internet.
Every Web site is checked by an N2H2 team-member to make sure that the site is correctly categorised. After a site has been listed as inappropriate, Primus WebFilter is automatically updated to block the new Web sites.
iFilter is listed in Australian Internet Industry Association Code of Practice, and endorsed by the Australian Broadcasting Authority.
Who should use WebFilter?
Parents may wish to use WebFilter to make sure that their children do not access inappropriate Web content, such as pornography.
Adults may wish to use WebFilter to ensure that they do not accidentally view offensive Web sites.
Does WebFilter block 100% of inappropriate Web sites?
WebFilter will block most Web sites which fall under our filtering policy. Like all Web filtering systems, WebFilter will not block 100% of inappropriate Web sites.
Adult supervision is probably the most effective way to prevent children from accessing inappropriate material. The ABA has provided a site designed for kids at CyberSmart Kids Online, including a guide for families using the Internet.
