Primus Telecom began supporting the arts in 2001, when we took on a principal partnership with a small arts organisation. A little under 4 years later, that small arts organisation grew into one of the flagship arts companies in Australia.
Once known as MICMusic, an acronym for the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, we helped celebrate the launch of their new name. From April 2005 the company is now known as Chamber Music Australia.
And with a new name, comes a new ambassador, and we are excited to be working with Australian Idol music director, John Foreman in taking classical music to the world.
In addition to these unique developments, we helped launch the 2005 Australian Chamber Music Competition, which will be staged from the 30 June to 3 July at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne. For the first time ever, we are working with ABC Classic FM in broadcasting the competition via our website – ‘turning potential into performance’.
“The Australian Chamber Music Competition is to classical music, what Australian Idol is to pop music” said John Foreman. The competition brings Australia’s most gifted, young classical musicians together, to battle it out for over $60,000 in cash prizes and concert engagements.
