Primus releases web text SMS offering

Melbourne, Australia, April 20, 2006

GIVE YOUR THUMBS A REST WITH THE NEW PRIMUS WEB TEXT SMS DIRECT FROM YOUR COMPUTER

SMS to groups, from spreadsheets, or use ‘Flash’ SMS

Melbourne, Australia, April 20, 2006 - Primus Telecom today released WebTXT, a personal messaging service that allows Primus Internet subscribers to send an SMS (short message service) direct from a computer.

WebTXT gets around the problem of keying text messages into a mobile phone keypad. Many people find WebTXT is faster and it allows messages to be sent easily to groups as well as to individuals.

“WebTXT is simple to use directly from the desktop and is a faster, more effective way to get through to busy people with clogged emails and voice mails,” said Bryan Yianakis, General Manager, Consumer Division for Primus Telecom.

“It avoids telephone tag, allowing you to say exactly what you want through SMS, and to receive an SMS reply to your inbox and email.

“For many people, sending SMS from a mobile phone can be a tedious process. If you can use email, you can use Web TXT,” Mr Yianakis said.

The cost of Primus WebTXT is 18 cents per SMS message and is billed to a user’s iPrimus internet account.

Using the computer to send SMS also opens up a range of other value-added features, which are not possible, or limited, on a mobile phone.

It’s possible to send messages directly using a spreadsheet, create an address book with categories, and check the history of SMS messages sent and received by date.

There is also the advanced Primus WebTXT Flash SMS feature where the message appears directly on the receiver's mobile screen instead of their inbox.

Primus Telecom, has partnered with SMS-based messaging solutions provider, Qmani, to deliver the WebTXT service.
