PRIMUS INTRODUCES NEW HOMECAP PLAN TO PUT A LID ON CALL COSTS
Local, national, international and calls to mobiles included in capped price
Melbourne, Australia, April 17, 2006 - Primus Telecom today announced new phone plans for residential customers with price capping that can provide up to $250 worth of calls each month on a low monthly plan.
The Primus HomeCap plan gives customers joining Primus the benefit of a capped plan that allows calls from their home phone up to a set limit. Calls include local, national, fixed to mobile and international calls.
Starting from $15 a month plus line rental, the capped plans deliver big savings to customers who have bundled their phone and Internet service with Primus.
There are three bundled-price plans to meet a range of calling patterns and household budgets:
- A $15 plan that includes $50 worth of local, national, fixed to mobile and international calls
- A $35 plan that includes $120 worth of calls
- A $65 plan that includes $250 worth of calls
The value of calls is based upon Primus’s current competitive rates including 17 cent local calls, national calls at 17 cents a minute, and international call charges based on Primus’s Name-a-Nation rates.
The biggest savings under HomeCap are available to customers who have bundled their eligible Broadband or Dial-Up Internet service with Primus. But even for those who don’t, there are still big savings. For these customers, the HomeCap rates are $25 for $50 worth of calls, $45 for $120 worth of calls, and $75 for $250 worth of calls.
Primus Telecom Managing Director, Greg Wilson said the new capped plans deliver a level of savings that is unmatched in the Australian market.
“We have targeted the major offering to those customers who have their phone and Internet service with Primus but even for those who use another Internet provider, the savings are significant.
“These plans also provide a level of comfort for customers who will now be able to talk even more with friends and relatives without the worry of an unexpected or large bill.
“We want to pass on to customers the savings that we can generate in the form of a plan that gives greater certainty over household budgets.
“The calculation of call costs is based on our very competitive rates for local, national and international calls, meaning the savings stretch even further. With the additional benefit from bundling internet, households will be getting tremendous value and real savings”.
The HomeCap plan is available without a lock-in contract. The standard line rental of $29.95 a month applies and some call types, such as premium rate and 13 numbers, are excluded.
The HomeCap plan is another way that Primus is making telecommunications more affordable. The new plan follows the recent launch of TalkBroadband, a new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service that uses broadband instead of traditional copper lines and which slashes the cost of home telephone calls.
