Primus Broadband Network gains momentum

Melbourne, Australia, September 8, 2005

PRIMUS TELECOM BROADBAND NETWORK ROLLOUT GAINING MOMENTUM

Over 100 exchanges commissioned across Australia

Melbourne, Australia, September 8, 2005 - Primus Telecom has completed the installation of new state-of-the-art DSL infrastructure in over 100 telephone exchanges across Australia and is on track to commission approximately 200 exchanges by the end of this year.

The deployment of the DSL technology in exchanges nationwide will deliver faster and better services for customers, and reduced dependence on Telstra wholesale services.

Primus Telecom’s DSLAM installation program, costing more than $20 million, is the only roll out of its kind, and entails both fixed line and Internet customers being migrated across to the Primus network. More than 25,000 telephone line and Internet services have now been fully migrated to the Primus network.

The DSLAM deployment covers an extensive customer footprint, with facilities in all the mainland State capitals as well as in major regional areas. Primus already has its own DSL infrastructure installed in all the mainland State capitals to service the corporate market.

Primus Telecom Managing Director, Greg Wilson said: “The deployment of this new DSL network is going extremely well and I am pleased that we now have thousands of customers who have already migrated across to our own dedicated network.

“By having our own network, we will be able to provide a greater choice of services and pricing options, while giving us the ability to better manage our customers’ communications needs”.

The upgrade will accommodate latest broadband technologies including ADSL2+ platforms, meaning that customers will be able to receive voice, high-speed Internet and data services and new interactive services including video on demand.

Primus Telecom is one of the first carriers in the world to deploy “triple play” DSL technology, using the Marconi Access Hub DSLAM platform, which enables carriers to create unique products and differentiate its services in the broadband access and services market. The Access Hub allows carriers to offer voice, video and data services from a single platform.
